We've all heard of lavender tea, but what about lavender coffee? Honestly, this is a drink I never knew I needed in my life until I tried it. Its SO good. The lovely floral taste of lavender pairs really well with the bold, rich taste of Nummy Creations coffee alternative. This can be enjoyed hot, iced, or frothed as a latte!
Lavender is one of those flavours that you may be apprehensive to try at first - but once you do you discover a whole new world in culinary flavours! Florals can add a sophisticated and elegant layer of taste to your morning bevvie.
This recipe uses a lavender simple syrup. This is extremely quick and easy to make, and stores well in the fridge. You can add lavender to your drinks whenever you like!
Enjoy it hot, iced, in a frothy latte or blended drink. There is no limit to your Nummy floral creations!
Add 1 cup of water, sugar and lavender flowers to a pot and whisk to combine. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and allow mixture to simmer for 5-10 minutes, until slightly thickened into a syrupy texture. Whisk mixture often.
Once mixture is thickened, place a funnel and mesh strainer over a bottle and pour lavender syrup into it, to strain out the lavender buds. Put bottle in the fridge to cool. (make sure syrup is completely cooled before handling - it’s hot!) The syrup should last 1-2 weeks in the fridge.
Make your Nummy. Add 1 tbsp or desired amount (I like making it more espresso strength for this recipe) to 1 cup of boiling water and stir. Top with 1-2 teaspoons of lavender syrup, and add milk or cream if desired. Enjoy!
